Each year, ACJA hosts a lineup of outstanding practitioners, trainers, and thought-leaders to educate our membership on the most important issues in the criminal justice field.
bENJAMIN gREERState Threat Assessment Center (STAC) - Human Trafficking Liaison
California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI) - Criminal Justice and Homeland Security Division California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) Benjamin Thomas Greer’s role at the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) is as a Subject Matter Expert in the field of human trafficking and child sexual exploitation; specifically instructing and developing human trafficking courses for law enforcement and emergency management personnel. His primary tasks include: Creating multiple courses related to human trafficking and child sexual exploitation for OES’s California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI); Researching and course development of the nexus between terrorist financing and human trafficking; Working with the State Threat Assessment Center, Joint Terrorism Task Forces and Fusion Centers on human trafficking intelligence products; Integrating human trafficking intelligence into the Terrorism Liaison Officer training program, and Providing issue directed briefings for the OES Director and California legislators/policy makers on the current state of human trafficking and of its nexus to terrorism in California. |
Alana WheelerDirector of Counter Trafficking
Ministry of National Security Country of Trinidad & Tobago (Caribbean Islands) Alana’s primary focus revolves around countering Human Trafficking, with a specialized emphasis on the nuanced landscapes of the Caribbean and Latin American regions. Her expertise extends across various domains, encompassing International Development, Citizen Security, human development, Security and Crime Issues (including Terrorism and Counterterrorism, Cybersecurity, Energy Security, Illicit Drug Trafficking), Intelligence Research and Analysis, Counter Intelligence Research and Analysis, and Crime Prevention. |
